If you're one of the many people heading to a tropical climate to escape the late-winter blues, it may be a good idea to peel back those heavy wool socks and have a look at the state of your feet.
After months of neglect, you may be seeing chipped polish, jagged toe nails, calloused bunions and cracked heels – resulting in feet you'd rather bury in the sand than bare proudly in your new strappy sandals.
There's no need to head to a pricey salon for a pedicure, as you can easily get your tootsies beach-ready with a few simple steps at home.
First, soak your feet in warm, soapy water. This will make the skin and cuticles soft enough to work with. Next, exfoliate bunions and heels with a pumice stone, scrubbing off dead skin and calluses. Then, push cuticles back gently before buffing and filing your toenails. Once the feet are completely dry, apply two to three coats of glossy polish and let dry completely.
Keep in mind that you may have some time to yourself on your vacation, which may be the perfect opportunity to strap on your bunion splints, put your feet up and sit back with a tropical cocktail. Bunion correction has never been so luxurious.
